EAGLE MOUNTAIN, UT – A 19-year old pedestrian died and a 14-year-old was seriously injured after a collision at an intersection in Eagle Mountain Friday evening.
According to KUTV, the 14-year-old male was riding a dirtbike that was not street-legal near the intersection of Porters Crossing Parkway and Evans Ranch Drive.
Police say he was going up to 65 mph in the 25 mph zone and ran the four-way stop sign of the intersection. He struck the 19-year-old as they were crossing the street.
Both were airlifted to a nearby hospital. The pedestrian was pronounced dead by medical staff. The teen on the dirtbike reportedly had broken bones but is expected to recover.
The incident remains under investigation.
