Narrative
WASATCH CO., UT – The driver of a pickup truck died on Sunday following a head-on collision with a tractor trailer along a highway in northwest Wasatch County.
The collision occurred in the late morning or early afternoon on Highway 189 at milepost 20, which is south of both Charleston and Heber City and near Deer Creek Reservoir.
The investigation indicates that a northbound Ford pickup truck pulling a trailer veered into the southbound lanes of the highway and collided with an 18-wheeler hauling swiss cheese. The collision caused the pickup truck to leave the roadway, at which point it ignited.
Crews extricated the driver of the pickup truck, who died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet released their identity.
The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries. It’s unclear if they required hospitalization.
A full investigation is underway.
